Job Summary:

The Pediatric Respiratory Care Professional will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients in the mobile environment of air and ground transports. This includes assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and evaluating patient outcomes.

  • Patient Care Activities:
    • Obtains pertinent histories and performs physical examinations related to respiratory practice.
    • Formulates differential diagnoses and develops plans of care in collaboration with transport RNs and Medical Control Physicians.
    • Recognizes and treats changes in clinical situations, including life-threatening conditions, and implements changes to transport plans of care based on standing protocols and Medical Control Physician recommendations.
  • Assuring Safety and Quality of Care:
    • Takes a leadership role in achieving unit compliance with Transport Program accreditation for CAMTS and actively participates in the Quality and Safety plan of the department.
    • Utilizes risk assessment/reduction strategies and communicates information about the patient's working diagnosis, plan of management, and prognosis to referring physicians, guardians, and other healthcare team members.
