Respiratory Therapist Job Description

This is a unique opportunity for a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team and provide high-quality care to critically ill or injured patients. As an Interfacility Transport RCP, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care in a mobile environment, utilizing your expertise in intubations, chest tube placement, and line placement.

  • You will work closely with the transport team to ensure safe and efficient transportation of patients, using expanded skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care.
  • As a leader on the team, you will take charge of coordinating initial transport requests, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring proper communication with referring facilities and receiving hospitals.
  • You will also participate in ongoing education and professional development, staying up-to-date on the latest research and evidence-based practices in neonatal and pediatric transport medicine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain pertinent patient histories and perform physical examinations related to respiratory practice.
  • Formulate differential diagnoses and develop plans of care in collaboration with transport RNs and medical control physicians.
  • Recognize and treat changes in clinical situations, implementing necessary interventions and expected outcomes based on protocols and recommendations.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated, including airway management, needle aspiration, and interpretation of laboratory data.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring, assessment, and interventions while in transit, at referring and receiving facilities.
