Description
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Legal Counsel to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal support across various areas of the business, acting as our in-house legal advisor, and supporting the company's legal and regulatory needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a legal advisor on payments-related matters, including product deployment, licensing, money transmission regulations, and financial services oversight.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage a variety of commercial contracts, such as vendor agreements, service agreements, customer terms, SLAs, and NDAs.
- Provide legal guidance on payment integrations with global partners, PSPs (Payment Service Providers), acquirers, and banks.
- Advise on corporate matters, including mergers & acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, restructuring, and board governance.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy laws, particularly GDPR and Israeli data protection regulations, in relation to payment operations.
- Offer legal counsel on new product launches, risk mitigation, licensing, and regulatory issues.
- Work with external legal advisors across different jurisdictions as needed.
- Help implement scalable legal processes and documentation to support business growth and regulatory flexibility.
- Monitor developments in payments regulation, draft internal guidance, and update management on key changes.

Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a qualified lawyer, either in-house (preferably within fintech/payments) or at a law firm with significant payments/regulatory experience.
- Strong background in payments, including money transmission, digital wallets, remittances, and acquiring services.
- Experience in commercial contracting and corporate transactions.
- Solid understanding of data privacy laws, particularly GDPR and Israeli privacy regulations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulatory frameworks relevant to payments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to break down complex legal issues into practical business advice.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to take initiative and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, global startup environment.
Advantages
- Experience in cross-border regulatory matters, particularly with EU and Israeli financial regulators.
- Familiarity with AML/KYC, compliance frameworks, or licensing processes in Israel and Europe.
