Breeding Assistant Tomato

As a Breeding Assistant in the R&D unit of Hazera, you will work closely with the Breeder and gain exposure to various markets, commercial perspectives, and decision-making processes. You will also learn to manage extensive cross-functional interfaces within a large global organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement breeding programs, including sowing, planting, and laboratory tests
• Support field observations and selections both locally and internationally
• Train and supervise technicians and seasonal workers
• Responsibility for all breeding support activities
• Collaborate with local farmers and growers
• Document, report, and monitor plant development in breeding plots
• Track pollination team activities and perform pollinations in special programs
• Maintain breeding software systems (field lists, lab tests, seed inventory, etc.)
• Coordinate with company laboratories and monitor test results
• Working hours: 06:00 – 15:00

Requirement

• B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Agriculture or Life Science
• Valid driver's license – mandatory
• High level of English – mandatory
• Background in genetics, molecular biology, and plant physiology – advantage
• Knowledge of statistics and statistical programming – an advantage
• Motivation for a role combining fieldwork with office tasks
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Office applications
• Willingness to travel abroad 2–3 times per year
