AIS Coach

Middle School Tennis Coach: Mondays & Wednesdays from 15:00-17:00 until early November.

Middle School Soccer Coach: Mondays & Thursdays from 15:00-16:00 until the end of October.

General information about coaching HS teams at AIS:

  1. Coaching at AIS is a special and unique opportunity to work with MS & HS students from all over the world.
  2. Coaches should be knowledgeable, organized, enthusiastic and passionate about the sport.
  3. Coaches should have the ability to teach the fundamentals of the game while preparing the HS teams for games and tournaments. MS teams should focus on fundamental skills and techniques.
  4. HS Teams practice 3 times a week after school for two hours & MS teams practice twice a week for 1:45 hours.
  5. Games & tournaments are played on weekends - scheduling is done by the athletic office. (Games can also be played in the middle of the week).
  6. An overseas trip takes place at the end of the HS season.
  7. Coaches must attend all practices & games - communicate with the AD for any scheduling issues.

Pre-Season:

  1. Attend pre-season coach's meeting.
  2. With assistant coach: Receive all eligibility forms – health forms.
  3. With assistant coach: Receive and complete all team's administration forms: team information list, attendance.

Season:

  1. Be prompt – at least 15 minutes before practice, 45 minutes before a game.
  2. Make sure you coach according to the guidelines of education-based athletics.
  3. Update team roster for athletics' administrative assistant.
  4. Communicate with the team on a regular basis regarding schedule and games.
  5. Away games – make sure to pick up a first aid kit, sandwiches.
  6. Overseas tournament - be responsible, alert and lead the team on & off the field.
  7. File reports for injuries – due the following day.
  8. Check grades & if needed communicate with classroom teachers.
  9. Report to AD for any problem.

Post-Season:

  1. Provide feedback to student athletes.
  2. Schedule a meeting with the AD to go over the season.
  3. Return equipment
  4. Choose MVP & MIP
  5. Prepare sports banquet speech
  6. Search for PD opportunities.
