About the Role

We are seeking a Head of R&D to serve as the CTO's right-hand, taking ownership of day-to-day R&D operations and execution. This role requires a seasoned technology leader who will act on behalf of the CTO to drive technical initiatives, lead engineering teams, and ensure flawless product delivery. You will have full authority to make decisions and execute the technical vision under the CTO's strategic direction.

Responsibilities

  • Execute CTO Vision:
    Act as the CTO's direct representative in all R&D matters, implementing strategic technical decisions.
  • Operational Leadership:
    Own day-to-day R&D operations, making autonomous decisions aligned with CTO directives.
  • Team Management:
    Build, lead, and scale engineering teams with full hiring and organizational authority.
  • Cross-Team Orchestration:
    Coordinate seamlessly across multiple interfaces including QA, Development, DevOps, NOC, Innovation teams, and Product Management to ensure aligned execution.
  • Delivery Ownership:
    Take complete responsibility for product development lifecycle and delivery commitments.
  • Technical Decision Making:
    Make architectural and technology choices within the framework set by the CTO.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    Represent the CTO in cross-functional meetings and drive alignment across all technical and business departments.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years software development experience with 5+ years in R&D leadership.
  • Proven ability to operate autonomously while executing senior leadership vision.
  • Expertise in modern backend/frontend technologies (PHP, JavaScript, SQL).
  • Strong cloud architecture experience (AWS/Azure services).
  • Track record of making sound technical decisions independently.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple technical interfaces and dependencies.
  • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automation tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills to coordinate between diverse technical teams.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Skills

  • iGaming or high-traffic B2B platform experience.
  • Expertise in data management and optimization (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis).
  • Experience with modern PHP frameworks (Yii/Symfony/Laravel).
  • Background in big data solutions and analytics.
