Job Description:

SGTECH is seeking an experienced and versatile Data Scientist with a strong background in Data Engineering. The ideal candidate will blend advanced analytical skills and practical engineering expertise to design, build, and optimize sophisticated data pipelines and predictive models that directly enhance our AI-driven solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines integrating diverse data sources, including sensor data, lab reports, genomic (DNA/RNA) data, and IoT devices.
  • Apply advanced machine learning and statistical methods to analyze large datasets, extract actionable insights, and build predictive models for biogas yield optimization and nitrate reduction.
  • Collaborate closely with domain experts, biologists, and engineers to interpret data-driven insights and support the continuous improvement of SGTECH's IES platform.
  • Implement and manage data storage solutions (SQL/NoSQL databases, data lakes, cloud storage) ensuring data quality, security, and integrity.
  • Optimize existing algorithms, ensure scalability of ML models, and deploy solutions into production environments with a strong emphasis on reliability and performance.
  • Develop monitoring and alerting tools to proactively identify anomalies, performance issues, and opportunities for improvement in the data ecosystem.
  • Communicate complex data findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of combined experience in Data Science and Data Engineering roles.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and familiarity with relevant libraries and frameworks (e.g., pandas, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Strong experience designing and managing data infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience handling structured and unstructured data, including time-series.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistics, and data modeling techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver production-grade data science solutions and robust engineering practices.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, DNA/RNA sequencing, and genomic data analysis.
  • Experience with IoT and real-time data streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Spark).
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience working in agile development teams and ability to thrive in dynamic, interdisciplinary environments.
