We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Summary:

1. We are the Bot Mitigation Strategy team at PayPal. We heavily rely on Device Intelligence, which is a critical part of PayPal's Risk Platform and in many ways considered the first line of defense against online fraudulent activity found in customer touchpoints such as sign-up, login, payments, and post-payment activities. In addition to its core capabilities of collecting signals from browsers and mobile apps and converting these signals into actionable insights to detect and prevent fraud, the Device Intelligence team is expanding its charter to be the first line of defense against automated attacks and in the process disrupt the economics of cybercrime. The team is part of PayPal's Global Fraud Prevention organization.
2. This role is open to support the expansion of Bot Mitigation solutions, and would be part of our global team.
3. The role requires some flexibility in work-hours and due to team's structure requires to accommodate online meetings up to two evenings per week.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and implementation of advanced data science models.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements.
• Drive best practices in data science.
• Ensure data quality and integrity in all processes.
• Mentor and guide junior data scientists.
• Stay updated with the latest trends in data science.

Expected Qualifications:

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

Your way to impact - Decision scientists deeply understand PayPal's business objectives, as their impact on PayPal's top and bottom lines is immense. As a decision scientist, you will analyse large datasets and lead strategy development, with the aim of adapting PayPal's advanced proprietary risk controls to the ever-evolving fraud landscape.

Your day to day  

In your role as a Decision Scientist, you will: 

·       Position yourself as Device Intelligence evangelist, actively research how to improve and create new high quality signals, collaborate with engineering and Fraud Research teams to convert them into actionable intelligence, advocate their adoption by partner teams and measure the incremental impact they deliver.

·       Track and measure performance against KPIs and goals to identify and mitigate fraud risk and enable growth 

·       Develop and own data-driven risk decision strategies to support PayPal's risk and business goals 

·       Utilize bottom-up, story based, innovative techniques to apply analytical know how onto PayPal's risk strategies 

·       Plan, drive and execute projects from start to finish, with partners across the company, to develop cutting edge, scalable and safe solutions 

·       Work with product and platform teams to develop cutting edge, scalable and safe products, to enhance the experience for our global customers 

·       Grow ongoing communication with partners across the company and share updates with senior leaders effectively and while translating complex problems into simpler terms 

·       Plan and measure experiments to analyse incremental value of new intelligence feeds, from internal teams or vendors
