Reports to: Senior Manager Finance
Direct Reports: None
Key Interfaces: Accounting team, FP&A, local and global finance teams, auditors, operations, R&D, and corporate management.
Position Purpose
The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in all aspects of financial reporting, accounting compliance, and internal control within a publicly listed company traded on the Nasdaq Stockholm Exchange. The role includes preparation of consolidated financial statements under IFRS, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements, performing accounting analyses, and supporting financial management processes across global subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting and Accounting
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements under IFRS.
- Perform complex accounting analyses, including lease accounting (IFRS 16), revenue recognition (IFRS 15), R&D capitalization, and fair value measurements.
- Support external audit processes, including preparation of working papers and coordination with auditors.
- Maintain accounting policies and ensure their implementation across entities.
- Internal Controls and Compliance
- Participate in the implementation, documentation, and testing of SOX internal controls.
- Support the Controller in maintaining effective financial control processes and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and regulatory reporting standards.
- Assist in improving internal processes and ensuring adherence to global governance frameworks.
- Period-End and Analytical Support
- Lead monthly and quarterly closing activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Prepare variance analyses and management reports to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with the FP&A team in budget and forecast processes.
- Cross-Functional and Global Collaboration
- Work closely with finance teams in subsidiaries to ensure accurate and timely consolidation.
- Collaborate with departments such as HR, Procurement, and Operations to maintain accurate accounting data.
- Support system and process improvements within ERP and reporting platforms (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Priority).
- Special Projects
- Participate in financial projects such as system implementations, mergers & acquisitions, and reporting automation.
- Assist in the adoption of new accounting standards and organizational structure changes.
Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – mandatory
- 1–3 years of experience post-internship, preferably from a Big 4 firm – mandatory
- Experience in a public or multinational company – strong advantage
- Excellent command of IFRS and financial statement preparation
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems (SAP / NetSuite – advantage)
- Fluent English – spoken and written (corporate-level communication required)
- Experience in MedTech / Pharma / Biotech – advantage
