Job Summary
Performs a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of CT scans.
Essential Functions
Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients of CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment, as necessarySchedule patients for procedures, assist with clerical functionsDispense oral contrast to patients for CT scansLoad and operate power injections for contrast media administrationProvide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for CT scansAdheres to protocol scan length to optimize patient doseConfirms patient position matches the selected scanning orientation parametersUtilizes Iso centering of the anatomy of interest to optimize doseOptimizes technical factors to minimize radiation exposure to the patient while maintaining diagnostic image qualityUses radiation shielding devicesEvaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately labelRecords patient dose and administration of contrast medication as per policyDocument appropriate charging of procedures and suppliesMaintain accurate patient recordsAssist radiologist with interventional CT procedures if applicableProvide orientation and training for new CT technologistsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
