About the Job

The ASTERRA R&D department is seeking a resourceful and independent engineer highly motivated to work as part of our DevOps/SRE team, where they will have the opportunity to play a leading part in ASTERRA's technological growth, working together with the Data Science team and utilizing advanced tools and techniques. Additionally, they will be responsible for applying the discipline of MLOps, which involves integrating DevOps practices into our Machine Learning Operations.

In this role, you'll:

• Take full lifecycle responsibility for the model and data development platform, including data processing, model training, evaluation, serving, and monitoring.
• Work collaboratively with Data Science, Data, and ML Engineering colleagues to enable continuous ML Operations.
• Manage infrastructure and tooling for model and data assets, ensuring ML operations are reproducible, reliable, and scalable.
• Provide technical leadership in topics of MLOps processes, tools, and infrastructure.

What you'll need:

• 2–3 years of experience in DevOps, MLOps, or Automation roles.
• Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and working with cloud environments, especially AWS.
• Scripting experience in Python and Linux shell.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (OpenTofu / Terraform).
• Solid understanding of Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Team player with excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• BSc in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• AWS or MLOps certifications.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and database operations.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow.
• Experience with distributed computing tools such as Ray, Dask, or Spark.
• Understanding of ML lifecycle and tools.
• Experience working with geospatial or GIS data.
• Open-source contributions in relevant fields.
