We are seeking an experienced and driven
Senior Backend Engineer
to join our founding team and play a pivotal role in shaping our product's direction and growth. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to design, build, and scale core backend systems, contribute to key architectural decisions, and operate with significant autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the founding team to influence product strategy and direction.
  • Design and develop highly available backend microservices and APIs.
  • Architect and implement scalable video and data pipelines.
  • Create and optimize automation for infrastructure, deployments, and monitoring.
  • Brainstorm new features, improve system architecture, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintain high-quality standards, ensuring code is readable, testable, modular, and maintainable.
  • Take ownership of features from concept to launch, working closely with Product to deliver impactful solutions.
  • Make critical technical decisions with a high degree of autonomy and influence.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in backend or full-stack development.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building backend systems.
  • Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals.
  • Proven experience building scalable backend systems and microservices.
  • Background in managing production systems serving millions of users daily.
  • Track record of delivering production services end-to-end: architecture, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Experience with both relational (RDBMS) and NoSQL databases, with a clear understanding of their tradeoffs.
  • Familiarity with message queue systems such as SQS, Kinesis, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and a strong team player, capable of owning tasks from planning through execution.
