Job Overview

We are looking for a
Staff AI Engineer
to join our rapidly growing engineering organization and lead the development of intelligent, AI-driven internal tools that enhance decision-making, visibility, and operational efficiency across the supply chain.

This role will focus on the design and deployment of intelligent agents that bridge structured enterprise data with natural language interfaces, laying the foundation for scalable, human-centric automation within Sojo's AI platform. You will collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and infrastructure teams to define architecture, implement secure interfaces, and guide future innovation in AI-powered tooling.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of LLM-powered systems that allow natural language interaction with internal data sources.
• Build, optimize, and maintain secure interfaces for querying structured operational data (e.g. ERP, manufacturing, logistics).
• Define best practices for prompt management, tool/function routing, memory, and RAG pipelines as needed.
• Develop internal APIs or applications to deliver intelligent assistant experiences to employees across operations, finance, R&D, and leadership.
• Partner with data engineers to align on metadata, schema modeling, and data governance requirements.
• Stay current on the LLM ecosystem and bring forward scalable approaches to tooling, agent design, and observability.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software, backend, or AI/ML engineering roles, including
  2+ years working with LLMs or agent frameworks
  .
• Proficiency in Python and experience with relevant libraries such as LangChain, SQLAlchemy, or OpenAI SDKs.
• Strong understanding of structured data systems (Snowflake, PostgreSQL, etc.) and natural language to SQL workflows.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, function calling, and LLM orchestration patterns (tools, agents, memory, retrieval, etc.).
• Experience building scalable and secure production-grade systems.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong bias for action in ambiguous environments.

Bonus Skills

• Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite), dbt, or other supply chain datasets.
• Exposure to streamlit, FastAPI, or internal UI frameworks for intelligent tools.
• Knowledge of vector databases or document intelligence platforms.
• Background in ML observability, security, or data governance.
