Job Summary

• This role is responsible for leading multiple project teams, and evaluating chemical engineering designs and project activities. The role identifies trends and opportunities for cost reduction and optimizing product output/quality. The role is pivotal in developing cost estimates, business cases, appropriation requests, and project plans. The role applies advanced subject matter knowledge to lead complex projects and to drive the integration of innovation and new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Leads multiple project teams of other chemists, chemical engineers, internal and outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of chemical engineering design and development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, validation, tooling and testing.

• Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.

• Identifies trends and opportunities for optimizing product/solution output, quality enhancements and cost of delivery.

• Develops cost estimates, business cases, appropriation requests and plans for chemical engineering projects.

• Leads delivery of professionally written reports, and supports realization of operational and strategic plans.

• Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the chemistry and chemical engineering organization.

• Applies advanced subject matter knowledge, leads, and contributes to complex projects, and exercises independent judgment in resolving business issues and establishing policies.

• Contributes to cross- organizational projects, programs, and activities by providing domain-specific expertise and chemical engineering leadership.

• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members to set an example of chemical design innovation and excellence.

Education & Experience Recommended

• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

• Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in chemistry practices, lab procedures, process improvement, people management, or a related field.
