Job Summary

The Wellness Counselor plays a pivotal role in fostering the mental and physical well-being of students. As a part-time position, this individual will be entrusted with providing expert mental health support and counselling services to approximately 50–100 undergraduate and graduate students during academic semesters.

  • This role involves close collaboration with colleagues, the Student Life team, and counterparts at NYU New York City to spearhead programs promoting student welfare.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide professional counseling services emphasizing holistic wellness and addressing individual concerns related to mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Key responsibilities include:

  • Offering daily walk-in hours for student support on campus.
  • Conducting workshops and seminars tailored to student needs, nurturing a culture of self-care and resilience.
  • Collaborating closely with the NYU Wellness Department, receiving guidance and supervision to adhere to best practices.
  • Engaging in regular meetings with relevant teams and directors to ensure effective communication and cooperation.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in all counselling interactions, prioritizing student safety and privacy.
  • Participating in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of counselling and wellness trends.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess:

  • A Master's Degree in clinical psychology (or LCSW) and necessary licensure/accreditation to provide clinical counseling services in Israel.
  • Minimum of 4 years post-licensure clinical experience, preferably in university settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention and response, as well as training in evidence-based therapeutic modalities like CBT.
  • Strong empathy and cultural sensitivity, particularly in understanding international student needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Fluency in English and Hebrew is preferred but not required.
