About the Role:

The UN Development Coordination Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Development Officer for Sustainable Development. This role will play a crucial part in the office's mission to support countries in achieving their sustainable development priorities and attaining the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research, analysis, and policy formulation on sustainable development issues, including SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building to national counterparts, governments, and other stakeholders to develop policies and programs that promote sustainable development.
  • Collaborate with the Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team to ensure that the UN's country-level operational activities effectively support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda at the national level.
  • Support the development and implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework UNSDCF to ensure that the UN's country-level operational activities effectively support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in the OPT.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree or equivalent in economics, sustainable development, public policy, business administration, social sciences, education, or related fields.
  • No less than 7 years of progressively responsible experience in sustainable development policy, economic analysis, or project/programme management in the context of development cooperation or related areas.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with the United Nations or an International Financial Institution, preferably in inter-agency or inter-organizational collaboration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sustainable development theories, concepts, and approaches, as well as analytical and evaluative skills to conduct independent research and analysis.
